Process.

Pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers need partners who understand the science, not just the software.

A foundation in biochemistry, pharmacology, and human anatomy, supported by a network of doctors, professors, and PhD researchers, means every project is scientifically sound from the first draft.

Fewer revision cycles, genuine collaboration, and the flexibility to adapt as your regulatory and marketing needs evolve. Above all, direct partnership with the person doing the work.

Bring your project to life.

  1. 1. Initial Consultation.
Understanding your scientific requirements and audience needs.

We begin by understanding your goals, your audience, and the project’s scientific requirements. Share any moodboards, sketches, reference papers, or 3D models.

  2. 2. Research.
Comprehensive literature review and expert consultation.

Scientific accuracy begins with research. We review the literature, consult our network of academics and specialists, and verify every detail against the evidence.

  3. 3. Concept Development.
    Storyboarding with scientific accuracy verification.

Before production, we develop the concept through sketches, storyboards, and test animations. This stage settles creative direction, scientific messaging, and visual style early, reducing revisions later in the project.

  4. 4. Production.
Advanced 3D modelling with iterative expert review.

With the concept approved, we move into full production. Models, animation, and visual effects take shape through regular check-ins, so the work stays true to your vision and on schedule.

  5. 5. Refinement.
Quality assurance and medical professional review before delivery.

We address your feedback and polish every detail before approved final delivery. Final exports are prepared in multiple formats for maximum flexibility.

  6. 6. Ongoing Partnership.
    Our relationship continues.

Delivery is the beginning, not the end. We remain available for updates, new projects, and long term collaboration, and many clients return for further content as their portfolios and educational needs evolve.

FAQ's.

Questions worth asking before the first project.

What most clients want to understand before we begin: what Studio xyz makes, who it’s for, how the work comes together, what it costs, and how scientific accuracy is protected along the way. If your question isn’t here, just ask.

The Work.

Studio xyz is a medical visualisation studio. We turn complex science, like a mechanism of action, a surgical procedure or an anatomical process into 3D animation, illustration, and interactive content for pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and educational institutions. The aim is always the same: to make a complex concept clear, accurate, and engaging for the people who need to understand it.

Two things. The work is built on a scientific foundation in biochemistry, pharmacology, and human anatomy, not animation software alone, so the science leads and the visuals carry it. Secondly, you work directly with the person producing the piece, rather than through layers of account management. That means faster decisions, real scientific collaboration, and nothing lost in translation between the brief and the screen.

Research, modelling, and animation are carried out in-house, and you’re part of the conversation throughout.

Those are the core of the work: pharmaceutical companies developing mechanism of action content, device manufacturers creating surgical and training material, and educational institutions building next-generation curricula. But the expertise is medical and scientific visualisation broadly, and projects in adjacent scientific fields are welcome wherever the subject calls for the same rigour. If you’re not sure yours fits, get in touch and we’ll tell you directly.

Timing & Cost.

Studio xyz prices per project, not by a per-second rate. As a rough guide, a single 60-second mechanism of action or surgical procedure animation starts from around £5,000, while larger projects with multiple deliverables or interactive versions typically range from £8,000 to £12,000 depending on length and complexity. Simpler graphics or short web animations cost considerably less. Style also affects the figure. Photorealistic 3D takes more time than stylised or 2D work. Get in touch and we’ll give you an accurate quote breakdown and timeline.

Most single animations run 4–12 weeks from initial consultation to final delivery. A typical breakdown:

        • Consultation and research: 1–2 weeks
        • Concept development and storyboarding: 1–2 weeks
        • Production: 4–5 weeks depending on complexity
        • Refinement and final delivery: 3–4 weeks

Timelines flex with the amount of animation involved, and schedule ammendments are possible for a launch, congress, or conference deadline. If you have a fixed date, the earlier we start relative to it, the stronger the work.

Yes. For teams with a continuous programme of content, an active launch, a growing library, or regular educational material across channels, Studio xyz offers ongoing arrangements that reserve capacity each month and make economic sense for the client.

Yes! For a smaller or pre-revenue company, a clear mechanism of action animation is one of the most effective ways to make complex technology land with investors, partners, and clinicians outside their field. If budget is tight, the conversation is about what one piece really needs to do, and scoping the deliverables to match.

Services & Formats.

The full range of medical visualisation: 3D mechanism of action and surgical procedure animation, 2D illustration for journals, infographics and patient education, AR and VR training applications, product visualisation, and physical 3D-printed models. Many projects combine several for a cohesive marketing campaign. For example, a mechanism of action animation, a set of journal figures, and an interactive version, all drawn from the same underlying models.

Yes. Where device geometry exists as CAD or engineering drawings, we can work from it directly, which improves accuracy and speeds up modelling. Anatomy, tissue, and the surrounding biology are built as bespoke models, drawing on medical references and the clinical detail you provide. Your product doesn’t even need to exist yet. We can visualise prototypes and explore design variations before manufacturing begins.

Yes. The animation, illustration, and interactive work is produced in-house; for voiceover, music, and sound design we either work with a supplier you already use or bring in people or services on your behalf, so the finished piece arrives complete.

Final exports are prepared in multiple formats for flexibility across platforms and use cases like web, presentation, broadcast, social, and print. If you need a particular format, crop, or version, tell us before the project closes and we’ll scope it in. The project’s source files and 3D scenes are kept on file too, so the work can be revised or reused later.

Collaboration.

The more context we have up front, the smoother the whole project runs. Helpful inputs include:

        • Any existing materials — moodboards, sketches, reference papers, or 3D models
        • Device CAD files or engineering drawings, where relevant
        • A clear description of how the device or mechanism works
        • Existing clinical or regulatory documentation
        • Who the audience is and where the work will be used
        • Your timeline or any fixed deadline

None of this is essential before a first conversation. If there are gaps, just get in touch and we’ll work out an approach together.

Yes. We’re happy to work from a client script, storyboard, or set of key messages, and will suggest refinements to the pacing or scientific framing where they’ll strengthen the piece before production begins. Equally, if you’d rather start from a blank page, we can develop the script and storyboard from your source material.

Yes, and it’s how we prefer to work. Your engineers, clinicians, and regulatory colleagues understand the device and the science better than anyone, so we set clear review stages through the project, letting their input shape the work before production is committed. Studio xyz brings its own grounding in biochemistry, pharmacology, and anatomy, along with a network of academic specialists, so those conversations stay quick and technical from the start. Your specialists’ time goes on the science only they can provide, not on bringing us up to speed.

Studio xyz invests heavily in the concept development stage (sketches, storyboards, and short test animations) so your vision is agreed before production begins. Because so much is established early, the later stages shouldn’t need heavy reworking. Any additional revisions once production is locked are scoped clearly and transparently before they start.

Yes. Studio xyz is based in London and works with clients wherever they are. Most collaboration happens remotely through regular review calls, and we fit around your time zone for scheduling and feedback.

No. Delivery is the start of the relationship, not the end. Assets from every project are kept, so a new piece begins from where the last one finished. That makes further work quicker and more cost effective, and everything you produce keeps to one consistent visual language. Many clients return for further content as their portfolios and educational needs evolve.

Scientific Accuracy.

Scientific accuracy begins with the research, before a single frame is designed. We conduct a literature review, consult our network of academics and industry specialists — doctors, professors, and PhD researchers — and verify every claim against current evidence. The storyboard then sets out exactly what will be shown and how, so the scientific messaging is agreed with your team before production begins. Nothing reaches the animation stage until the underlying science is settled.

Yes. That groundwork is what gives your animation a foundation solid enough to satisfy Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review. Content is verified against current literature and can be reviewed by medical professionals as part of quality assurance before delivery. If a piece is destined for a regulatory submission, let us know. It changes how the review stages are structured, and determines the supporting documentation you receive.

We put it right. Where an inaccuracy originates with us, we correct it as part of the project. Where it stems from information supplied during review, we agree the fix openly and turn it around quickly. In practice this is rare: quality assurance and medical review sit inside the process rather than at the very end.
